NWHN Fall Event
NWHN Fall Event
Mark your calendar! The National Women’s Health Network will conclude our 35th year by presenting the fourth Barbara Seaman Awards for Activism in Women’s Health on November 1, 2011 at Busboys and Poets in Washington, D.C.
Join us in celebration as we are inspired and energized by special guest speaker Byllye Avery, health care activist and founder of the Black Women's Health Imperative.
This year’s Barbara Seaman Award for Women’s Health Activism will be presented to Susan Hester. Susan’s decades of ground-breaking work include founding the Mautner Project, the National Lesbian Health Organization and co-founding the National Breast Cancer Coalition, organizations which are changing the way women’s health is conceived, researched and provided. Her work has touched the lives of millions of women.
We are also pleased that this year’s Barbara Seaman Award will be presented to emerging activist Fushena Cruickshank. Fushena has made a difference in the lives of young women in Washington, D.C., through her work as the Leadership Development Manager for Metro TeenAIDS. Fushena inspires young women to take charge of their own lives by developing youth-led projects around sexuality and relationships.
Help make this event a success by becoming an event sponsor.
Sponsorship levels begin at $300 and include acknowledgement in our event program and complimentary admission to the event. Sponsorship is a wonderful way to stand strong with the Network and pay tribute to the women we are honoring.
We are also accepting in-kind contributions of small items to include in the event gift bags. Examples of great gift bag items include key chains, product samples, and coupons or vouchers for goods or services. This is a wonderful opportunity to support the Network and advertise your business or services to our members. (Gift bag items should be non-perishable and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
For those who will be in Washington, DC for the APHA’s 139th Annual Meeting and Exposition, please note that Busboys and Poets is less than a five-minute walk from the convention center.
