Enrollment in Louisiana’s Medicaid expansion began this week, with 375,000 new adults ultimately expected to gain coverage! But the future didn’t always look so bright. When the Supreme Court made Medicaid expansion optional for the states, it left millions of women without access to any health insurance at all.
The Affordable Care Act requires everyone to sign up for a health insurance plan for the year, and although the Open Enrollment for 2015 health coverage has passed, fear not! There’s still a chance to enroll this year under the Special Enrollment Period (SEP). If you’ve had a major life event, you have until April 30, 2015 to sign up.
