For 12 years, March 10 has been observed as National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD). The CDC estimates that over 280,000 women are living with HIV and of those women, 11% don’t know they are infected.

Did you know that there are over a quarter of a million women and girls living with HIV in the U.S.? Low income women of color – African Americans and Latinas living in the South in particular – have disproportionately borne the brunt of the domestic HIV epidemic due to social, political and economic factors.
