If you’re going through the motions of life and work, feeling soul sick, detached, or even cynical towards your work, you may be suffering from “burnout,” now officially recognized by The World Health Organization (WHO) as an “occupational phenomenon” that is characterized by feelings of depletion and exhaustion, increased mental distance from or negativity towards one’s job, and reduced professional efficacy. You’re not alone, as a survey conducted by Asana that looked at workers across 10 countries found that 70% of those surveyed experienced burnout last year. So, what can we do to overcome this growing trend and create an environment of wellness within the workplace?
Enter Amy Papandrea, health coach and founder of Stone Lotus Health Coaching, who strives to help individuals and businesses battle workplace burnout.
Amy Papandrea started her career as a social worker in human services and is now a certified health and wellness coach. She founded Stone Lotus Health Coaching and works with individuals, corporations, businesses, and nonprofits to prevent and combat burnout.
After two stays in the ICU just a few weeks apart, Amy came close to losing her life as a result of a rare chronic disease of the liver, Budd-Chiari syndrome. These life-threatening medical emergencies led her into the world of health coaching after she was forced to make lifestyle changes to improve her health. Amy soon realized that not only had she become ill from her condition, but she had also been experiencing extreme and chronic burnout.
As someone with experience successfully navigating the path from illness to wellness, Amy believes everyone deserves to feel happy, strong, and well and now strives to help others beat burnout and learn to thrive with her holistic coaching.
